“The Note Under the Bed”

Story pin image

A woman, fed up and cranky because her husband was late coming home again, finally lost her patience. This had happened one too many times. Angry and frustrated, she decided it was time to teach him a lesson.

She wrote a note and placed it on the bed where he would clearly see it:

“I’ve had enough and have left you.
Don’t bother coming after me.”

To see his reaction, she quietly slid under the bed and waited, holding her breath in the darkness.

Minutes passed. Finally, she heard the front door creak open. Her husband had arrived. He walked into the room, saw the note, and paused for a moment.

Then he picked up the pen lying nearby and added a few lines to the note. The woman, hidden under the bed, was seething with curiosity and anger. What is he writing? she thought.

After scribbling something, he set the note back down, whistled happily, changed clothes, and picked up his phone. She heard him say:

“Hey babe! She’s finally gone. I’m on my way now. Can’t wait to see you!”

Then, without a second thought, he walked out the door and left.

The woman, stunned and fuming, crawled out from under the bed and rushed to the note. She looked down to read what he had written.

It said:

“I could see your feet under the bed.
I’ve gone out to get some snacks.
Be back in 10 minutes. Love you.”

Moral: Sometimes patience—and a good sense of humor—can go a long way in relationships.
