French wildlife photographer Lucas Cottereau, renowned for tracking reptiles around the world, recently came across a wild American alligator (Alligator mississippiensis) gliding through the waters of Florida’s Everglades. What made this encounter extraordinary was that the alligator was entirely missing its upper jaw.
Lucas shared jaw-dropping footage and images of the reptile. In the video, the gator is seen moving calmly on land and in water, appearing surprisingly at ease despite its severe injury. With only its lower jaw intact—teeth fully visible and aligned—the bizarre sight left Instagram users puzzled. The missing upper snout triggered a wave of questions.
In his caption, Lucas wrote: “Observed this American alligator (Alligator mississippiensis) in the Everglades, March 2025. Its upper jaw was missing, leaving only exposed tissue and a partial snout. No signs of captivity – it was active and free-ranging. No idea how it’s managing to survive like this.”
The post quickly went viral, drawing widespread attention and sparking curiosity in the comments. One user remarked, “How does it eat? Poor thing.”
In another viral news, a lorry carrying a blue dye chemical in Sao Paulo in Brazil, crashed into a lamppost, causing the chemical to spill into a nearby river stream and affect local wildlife. The incident was caught on video and has since gone viral. What caught the internet’s attention was that the blue dye stained geese and ducks, turning their feathers blue. The animals appeared completely blue in colour.
